Samantha Olson is a science writer and editor based in Manhattan, New York with a passion for nutrition and public health. Taking deep dives into a new research topic is one of her favorite things to do besides running and reading.
She grew up on the North Fork of Long Island, but left to study writing at King's College in upstate Pennsylvania. Samantha returned home to marry her love for science and writing by earning her Master's Degree in Science Journalism at Stony Brook University. In 2015, she was selected by the National Press Foundation for a fellowship program at the Mayo Clinic to cover the ever-evolving field of precision medicine. Her most notable assignment was when she interviewed a prisoner about his diet during a 3-month investigation into public system nutrition programs. Her research was later featured live on BBC World News.
